Lexico has its foundations in primary education. We know how busy the school year can be. Allow us to provide your teachers with peace of mind with our Pre-School, First Year of School and Grade One Speech, Language and Literacy Assessments. Our screeners give a comprehensive overview of each student's individual abilities, allowing teachers to better understand their students and what they need to succeed.
Pre-School Cohort Assessments
Designed to be conducted from August in the 4 Year Old Pre-School program, our Pre-School Cohort Assessments focus on language, communication and pre-literacy skills and are designed to identify risk factors which may impede literacy and social skill development. Each student receives a screening report with teacher recommendations for promoting language and pre-literacy skill development within your existing program.
First Year of School Cohort Assessments
Based in the Science of Reading, our First Year of School Cohort Assessments focus on language and pre-literacy skills and are designed to identify risk factors which may impede literacy development. Each student receives a screening report with teacher recommendations for in-class scaffolds, and advice for when tier 3 intervention is recommended.
Grade One Cohort Assessments
Our Grade One Cohort Assessments are designed to be delivered in semester one. Grade one is a vital year in literacy development, setting students on the right trajectory for a successful academic career. Evidence tells us that grade one literacy abilities can determine the success of students throughout their schooling. By screening students’ literacy and language development in the first half of the school year, we can help you identify students who are at risk and require extra support to achieve the expected literacy standards. We analyse the data for you, identifying exactly what skills your students need to address to set them up for success. Each student receives a screening report with teacher recommendations for in-class scaffolds and advice for when tier 3 intervention is recommended.
Individual Student Assessments
Our Individual Student Assessments can be tailored to the specific areas that you identify as a focus. Whether it be language, speech, literacy or general communication development, we will listen to your concerns and deliver assessments to inform us of your student's challenges, allowing us to plan the most effective, evidence-based scaffolds and intervention for each student. Each student receives a comprehensive assessment report, with teacher and parent recommendations to promote development, and advice for when tier 3 intervention is recommended.
Parent Information Sessions
Educators, along with Speech Pathologists, recognise parents and carers as the child's first educator. Our Parent Information Sessions provide parents with the knowledge and tools they need to set their children up for success. Catered to your needs, we develop presentations to give your families evidence-based information and practical strategies to integrate into their daily routines. Covering areas promoting language development, pre-literacy skills, literacy development and social communication skills, we empower families by providing them with the skills they need to enhance their child's development, emphasising the importance of strong partnerships between home and school.
